GitHub GameOff 2017 Submission
I submitted the first game I have ever created to the 2017 GitHub GameOff. I have been learning. Unity Engine, C#, Blend, Gimp, Audacity and LMMS for the past 6 months with the intention of publishing a game. I didn't feel completely ready to do that yet, but the GameOff pushed me to try and gave me the motivation and deadline to actually do it. As a point of principle, I have been trying to do everything for free (only cost me my time). I am using free to use assets when I can find them and making my own when I can't . Because of the 1 month time line for the GameOff, I relied mostly on what I could find to use, so I didn't not use all that I have learned over the past 6 months, but I was pleasantly surprise how I was able to combine a lot of the knowledge that I have gained on separate topics into one cohesive game.
The GameOff is a celebration of open source. The content creation tools that I used were open source, however I did use the Unity Game Engine which is not. I would have like to try an open source game engine and maybe will some day, but as I am still learning the in's and out's of Unity I did not want to confuse myself at this stage.
